Birthday Treat (part one)

Thirty fucking minutes of pretending to complete the crossword, thirty minutes trying to avoid eye contact with the other poor bastards finding their way home from mundane jobs.

My 40th birthday fell on a Friday, and my wife of 15 years had forgotten, no card , no phone call, not even a text or Email, I left the packed train and headed for home.

I had beer in the fridge, and if I was lucky I might get a cooked meal, I still had the hot's for Jill from time to time but marriage was so mundane, no more wild sexual encounters the kind of spontaneous acts that we used to thrive on years ago.

Jill kept herself fit, went to the gym and all that crap, but the magic was definitely seeping away, to the point where I was perving on her friend Zoe, her fucking "training buddy", for Christ sake how lame.

Puzzled and surprised I wandered into the lounge draining half of my cold beer, well at least she hadn't forgotten me I smiled to
myself, no doubt a pack of socks and a bottle of decent malt, not too bad I guess.

I climbed the stairs with a renewed optimism but on opening the bedroom door

I nearly fucking fainted.

Nothing could have prepared me for the sight that greeted my eyes.
